A well-informed source revealed that the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government are approaching a comprehensive agreement on outstanding issues, especially the salary and oil files.
This is due to visit the negotiating delegation to the regional government to visit the capital, Baghdad, during the coming period to complete previous discussions on outstanding issues with the federal government.
The source said, “The Federal Government submitted a proposal to the Kurdistan Regional Government, which provides for the payment of an amount of 300 billion dinars in exchange for handing half of the border crossing imports and internal imports to the federal government.”
And, “The negotiating delegation of the Kurdistan government will visit Baghdad next week to discuss the new proposal with the federal government.”
The source pointed out, “It is expected that an agreement will be reached on the new proposal and its implementation only for the current year. The new year will be signed by a new and comprehensive agreement on financial files between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the federal government.”
Member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee Shirvan Mirza said in a press statement, “There is a real intention between the federal governments and the Kurdistan region to resolve the differences after the negotiating delegation held a series of dialogues, on financial files and oil imports.”
He added, “The Kurdistan Regional Government discussed all outstanding points with the federal government, and there are only some technical points left to reach a comprehensive agreement.”
He explained, “I think that there is great hope that the Kurdistan Regional Government will reach an agreement with the federal government soon because the two governments need this agreement and they have no choice but to dialogue and a common agreement.”
The negotiating delegation headed by Qubad Talabani, Vice-President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, held a series of discussions with the previous government headed by Adel Abdul-Mahdi and the current government headed by Mustafa Al-Kazemi and reached several important proposals and recommendations on outstanding issues with the federal government.
