The American embassy in Baghdad issued a statement in which it sent a message to its citizens, in conjunction with the demonstrations that started in front of its embassy building, in the Green Zone, central Baghdad.

The embassy said in the statement it received (Baghdad today), “Because of the ongoing protest activity, American citizens should not approach the US embassy in Baghdad.”

He added: “Americans should review their personal security and preparedness in emergency situations.”

Before that, US President Donald Trump said he expected Iraq to use its forces to protect the US embassy in Baghdad .

“Iran killed an American contractor, injuring a lot,” Trump said, tweeting on his platform with “Twitter”, translated (Baghdad Today), adding: “We responded strongly, and we will always do .”

He added: “Now Iran is organizing an attack on the American embassy in Iraq, and they will bear full responsibility .”

“We expect Iraq to use its forces to protect the embassy, ​​and we have been informed about that, ” he added.

Earlier in the day, the resigned prime minister, Adel Abdul Mahdi, asked the crowd in front of the US embassy to leave immediately .

Abdul-Mahdi said in a statement received (Baghdad today), “The American strike on our military blocks on December 29, 2019 was condemned by the government at the highest levels and the government took a series of measures and measures to address the situation in a way that secures the sovereignty of Iraq and the security of its citizens .”

He added, “The solemn ceremony for the funeral of the martyrs is part of the fulfillment of their precious and beautiful blood, but away from contact with the embassy buildings that are responsible for protecting and securing them for the Iraqi government .”

And Abdul-Mahdi called on “everyone to leave immediately away from these places,” noting that “any aggression or harassment of foreign embassies and representations is an act that will prevent him strictly from the security forces and the law will punish him with the most severe penalties .”

Prior to that, he directed the representative of the Sadiqin parliamentary bloc, Hassan Salem, through the loudspeakers of the protesters in front of the American embassy, ​​not to storm it .
