Al-Monitor has revealed a forthcoming meeting between President Barham Saleh and his US counterpart Donald Trump on the margins of the United Nations meetings.
Speaking about Iraq and the anticipated participation of President Saleh in New York, the paper said: “The idea here is not to press Iraq against Iraq, as it was in the face of Iran, as it was in the midst of Iran, and as a way of life. However, President Saleh and his colleagues in the three presidencies have put their country on a different path, giving priority to Iraq’s sovereignty and avoiding conflict. ”
“The Trump administration could win by encouraging the Iraqi leadership,” she said. “Although it is acknowledged that Iraq’s path is fragile, in a potentially explosive area, there are increasingly signs of sound investment.”
