Shafaq News/ Today, Friday, “Al-Azm” coalition called for expediting sending the budget law to the Finance Committee for the purpose of studying it and including it on the Parliament’s agenda.
And the coalition stated in a statement today, that it “calls on the Azm Alliance, the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament and the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, to expedite the transfer of the general budget law from the Presidency of Parliament to the Finance Committee for the purpose of studying it and including it on the parliament’s agenda in the nearest session.”
He added, “This law bears great and sensitive importance related to the strength of the Iraqi people and the economic, administrative and social effects of its approval, in implementation of the covenant that the parliament and the people’s representatives made to themselves in serving the country and striving to pass legislation and laws that are in the interest of the citizen.”
In the meantime, the representative of the State of Law coalition, Muhammad Saadoun Al-Saihoud, called on all political blocs to show “the national responsibility towards the people and their interests, which lie in including the federal budget among the most important tasks entrusted to the work of the House of Representatives, the presidency and members.”
Al-Saihoud said in a statement today, “The Sudanese government’s step in presenting a sober budget for the next three years is nothing but a corrective process for the government’s work to provide the best, most effective, and most effective service for government institutions and the interests of Iraq and Iraqis, as delaying the approval of the budget is not in the interest of anyone, especially as we are living a revolution of Governmental reforms at all administrative, financial and service levels.
The parliamentarian also appealed to everyone to stay away from political rivalries and partisan interests, describing the process of obstructing the approval of the budget as “political malice, the top of which is personal benefits and the bottom of which is obstruction to the Sudanese, whose procedures, steps and wise decisions in presenting his national project before the trust entrusted to him have become clear to the public.”
Yesterday, Thursday, the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, granted himself a 15-day leave, starting from the 3rd of next April, while his first deputy was authorized to manage the parliament’s sessions.
On Monday, March 13, the Iraqi Council of Ministers approved the draft budget law for the years 2023, 2024, and 2025 and referred it to Parliament.
The last budget approved in Iraq dates back to April 2021, while one was not adopted in 2022 due to the political turmoil that paralyzed the country for a year after the last legislative elections.
