Former MP Jasim Muhammad al-Bayati revealed on Monday the Shi’ite political committee’s proposal to 30 candidates for the prime minister, indicating that the veto of each candidate aborted all candidates, while stressing that next week would see the introduction of new candidates.
Al-Bayati said in a press statement that “the Seven Committee discussed and put forward 30 candidates for the Prime Minister and reached some final names that the veto by members of the Seven Committee is the one who fails to pass any candidate.”
He added that “the Shiite forces, as they have the right to choose the prime minister, are required to hold a session for the leaders of the Shiite leaders to choose the prime minister or form a new committee and put in place less flexible mechanisms to pass to form the government.”
Al-Bayati said, “Iraq did not enter any constitutional void because of the presence of the resigned Prime Minister and the Presidency of the Republic,” noting that “next week will see the introduction of new names and their approval to head the government.”
