Ayat Muzaffar Nouri, spokeswoman for his victory coalition, former prime minister, Haider al-Abadi, on Wednesday (November 13, 2019), confirmed that any road map to resolve the current crisis in the country can not proceed without a fateful decision to resign the government of President The Cabinet, Adel Abdul Mahdi.
“The first steps of the roadmap to be adopted are the resignation of the government of Adel Abdul Mahdi, because of which the blood of Iraqis was disguised by masked men and snipers,” Nuri told Baghdad Today.
“The methods of repression and arrests faced by demonstrators and activists are at least provocative, restrict the freedom of expression guaranteed by the constitution, as well as a reason to deepen the gap between the people and the political power,” she said.
“The demonstrators do not want to destroy government institutions,” she said.
The victory coalition, held on Sunday evening, November 10, 2019, a meeting chaired by Haider al-Abadi to discuss the situation in the country and the mass movement and the demands of the demonstrators.
A statement of the coalition received (Baghdad today), “the coalition of victory reiterated its emphasis on proceeding with the questioning of Prime Minister Mr. Adel Abdul Mahdi in the House of Representatives and the importance of setting a date for questioning.”
The coalition criticized the victory, according to the statement, “the absence of the vision of the government lacking solutions, but that some of the steps and speeches of the government complicate the situation.”
The statement added that “the meeting discussed the talks of political blocs and the emphasis on the initiative of victory put forward by Dr. Haider al-Abadi at the beginning of last month and expressed the coalition’s fear of further collapse because of government policies.”
The coalition refused, according to the statement, “the use of force that caused many casualties and the policy of suppressing freedoms, arrests and kidnappings, as well as knowledge of the perpetrators of the killings by snipers and the use of direct fire.”
He explained that “the victory coalition criticized the process of blackmail to the government and the exploitation of the current situation to pass what they want and get gains.”
He pointed out that “the international community wants to help Iraq and what the current government gives a negative view of the country where the previous government has taken great measures to return Iraq to the international community.”
