Former Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said that the current federal government headed by Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi needs to achieve a parliamentary majority.
“If we want to overthrow the government, we have to form a parliamentary majority. This requires alliances that we have not yet reached, although there is dialogue,” he said in an interview published on Monday by Al Arabiya television.
Regarding the recent demonstrations, Abadi said that “failure to deal with popular demands today may lead to collapse, God forbid, especially in the presence of armed groups outside the state, and mafias of corruption dominating the state in general, and the lack of will to take the decision, which leads to the downfall of the situation. On people’s heads and this is the real danger chasm now. ”
