A European country reopens its embassy in Iraq after closing 30 years

Finland announced the reopening of its embassy in Baghdad and promote trade between the two countries after a break of nearly 30 years, at a time when Iraq is witnessing violent protests claimed the lives of more than 300 people killed and 6,000 wounded.
The new Finnish ambassador to Baghdad, Vesa Hakkinen, said that his country had suspended diplomatic relations with Iraq with the outbreak of the Gulf War in early 1991.
He added that the Finnish embassy will start its work with the assistance of a diplomatic staff of four members in principle. The same building as the Swedish Embassy in Baghdad.
