Türkiye sets date for completion of ‘development road’ with Iraq

Shafaq News/ Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Oraloğlu announced on Friday that his country intends to work very soon to complete the “Development Road” project agreement with Iraq to strengthen regional connectivity .
“Turkey represents a natural bridge in the east-west corridor linking Asia and Europe, and is a pivotal player in the north-south corridors extending from the Caucasus to Africa,” the minister told the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet Daily News, as translated by Shafak News Agency .
He stressed “the importance of Turkey’s strategic geographical and economic location, and its pivotal role in both the Central Corridor Project and the Development Road Project .”
According to the Turkish minister, Turkey is “the cornerstone of the safe operation of transcontinental transport corridors,” adding that “with other roads that will be connected to these main arteries, the transport potential through Turkey will increase many times over .”
In turn, Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat noted that “the global economy has witnessed profound transformation and major shocks in recent years, leading to global divergence and slowing growth .”
The minister warned of “uneven competitive conditions in global trade, trade tensions between major economic blocs, and the impact of international trade on the challenges of supply chain disruptions, logistical barriers, and geopolitical conflicts .”
