The Ministry of Electricity reveals for Euphrates News the date of the electronic collection(Baghdad: Al Furat News) The Ministry of Electricity revealed, today, Monday, the date of the electronic collection in the elected regions throughout the country.
“The work of electronic collection will begin before the end of 2020, as it will be applied in the elected areas throughout Iraq and perhaps in the holy Karbala and Najaf provinces and some areas of Baghdad, and then it will be generalized to all regions,” the ministry‚Äôs spokesman, Ahmed Al-Abadi, said.
He added, “The ministry was intending to proceed with the project of installing electronic meters because of its many benefits, including rationalizing consumption, maximizing resources through electronic collection, limiting wastes, contributing to raising major abuses and regulating consumers’ loads of electric energy.”
He added, “The aim of the project is to turn some informal subscribers into consumers, and thus the wastes are non-existent.”
“The issue was brought up to the Council of Ministers as it was presented to the Ministerial Energy and Parliamentary Energy Council, and we obtained government decisions to approve and proceed with these projects,” Al-Abadi added.
He also affirmed, “The Ministry’s intention to work on the project, and accordingly it has brought in a number of technical and commercial offers from local and foreign companies, and is currently working on studying the project schedule and tenders.”
“The ministry is also working with the Ministry of Communications on the automation and electronic governance project,” Al-Abadi continued, noting that “the project will provide a database for consumers and a government system, starting from the consumer through the switch, which will show the number of subscribers within one switch.”
He pointed out that “the project will be a good supporter of the citizen, and prices in advance are subsidized by 90%.”
Al-Abadi concluded his speech, “The collection sums owed by the citizens are frozen according to the decisions of the previous cabinet, and the rest is being collected from the citizens.”
