Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi confirmed to a number of French company heads on Monday that Iraq has “already” embarked on a campaign to confront and encircle administrative corruption, reassuring them that the campaign is bearing fruit.
Al-Kazemi said in a statement, that he met today, with a number of heads of French companies, on the sidelines of a European tour that began in the French capital Paris, explaining during the meeting the level of challenges that Iraq faces due to the economic repercussions of the Corona pandemic and the decline in oil revenues.

And the Prime Minister indicated the government’s determination to convert these challenges into an opportunity for success from which the Iraqi economy would start towards a radical transformation in reducing dependence on oil exports.

Regarding the reform white paper adopted by the government, Al-Kazemi referred to the response it had received, and the economic and administrative reforms it contained, as well as its inclusion of reducing government expenditures.

Al-Kazemi assured the heads of French companies, “Iraq’s keenness to create a solid economic partnership and its endeavor to sustain momentum in developing a real transition in the economy, just as it is keen to provide healthy and appropriate conditions for investment and address the obstacles it faces.”

And that Iraq “has already embarked on a campaign to confront and encircle administrative corruption, and this campaign has begun to bear fruit.”

Al-Kazemi left Sunday evening for Paris at the start of the first European tour by the Iraqi prime minister since he took office in May.
