(Baghdad: Al Furat News) Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein confirmed, on Wednesday, that the United States of America is a strong ally of Iraq, while he announced deals with Washington today.
Hussein said in a joint conference held with his US counterpart Mike Pompeo in Washington, “We have affirmed that Washington will continue to cooperate in combating terrorism, and memoranda of understanding and cooperation will be signed today in various fields.”
He added, “He will also sign a memorandum of understanding with the American company, Chevron, for oil exploration today.”
Hussein added, “During the meeting with the US Secretary of State, we discussed economic relations and how to combat Corona,” noting that “Baghdad and Washington are in one trench to fight ISIS.”
He noted, “Emphasizing the continuity of dialogue in the fields of energy, health and culture.”
Hussein concluded the conference by saying, “Our policy is based on the Iraqi interest, and we want good relations with our neighbors, provided they do not interfere in the affairs of Iraq.”
