The Foreign Ministry issues a statement on the Iraq and America talksOn Friday, the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on the ongoing strategic dialogue between Iraq and the United States, indicating hopes that the next session will be held in Washington directly.

The ministry said in a statement that “the Iraqi delegation headed by Senior Undersecretary Abdul Karim Hashem held with the United States government delegation the first session of the strategic dialogue through a closed television circle in accordance with the strategic framework agreement signed in the year 2008.”

She added, “The first session of the strategic dialogue between Iraq and America presented economic, political, security and cultural relations between the municipality,” noting that “the two delegations affirmed their endeavor to consolidate relations under the new government headed by Mustafa Al-Kazemi.”

He continued, “This session will be the beginning of a series of other sessions of the strategic dialogue in the hope that the next session will be held directly in Washington when the appropriate conditions are available.”

And yesterday, Thursday, strategic negotiations between Baghdad and Washington were launched through closed-circuit television.
