Today, Monday, the member of the Al-Fateh bloc in Parliament, MP Intissar Al-Mousawi, revealed a “most important file” that the transitional government headed by Mohammed Tawfiq Allawi will deal with.

Mousawi said, in an interview with (Baghdad today), that “the decision of the House of Representatives to remove the American forces from Iraq is a sovereign decision that cannot be returned, and it is the most important and first file that the government of Prime Minister-designate Mohammed Allawi will deal with, and we look forward to resolving it as soon as possible.”

Al-Musawi added, “The decision to remove the American forces from Iraq does not give it up, and we consider it a red line.” Noting that “the Allawi government is obligated to apply the contents of the House of Representatives decision, given that the decision is supported by the Iraqi people.”

On Saturday, February 1, President of the Republic, Barham Salih, commissioned Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi, head of the country’s transitional government, to succeed resigner Adel Abdul-Mahdi.

On Sunday (January 05, 2020), the House of Representatives voted in an extraordinary session on the departure of all foreign and American forces from Iraq, the abolition of the role of the international coalition in Iraq, as well as the abolition of the security agreement with the United States of America, by the Iraqi government.

The parliament’s decision to vote to remove foreign forces from the country came in response to the assassination of the commander of the Quds Force in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Qassem Soleimani, and the deputy head of the Popular Mobilization Authority, Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, with a US air strike near Baghdad International Airport early last month.
