Officially .. Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi is assigned to head the new government in IraqIraqi President Barham Salih, after consultations with political blocs, Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi, was officially tasked with forming a new government. A source in the Iraqi presidency said to Al-Jazeera that there is no truth to talk about the possibility of extending the deadline that President Saleh granted earlier to the parliamentary blocs concerned to nominate a candidate to head the next government, which ends today, Saturday.
Al-Jazeera correspondent in Baghdad reported that Allawi is supported by the main political blocs, but he was rejected by some blocs, but their voices are less than those of the major blocs.

The reporter added that Allawi had his name raised in the Tahrir Square and other sit-in arenas a few days ago, and there was a difference of opinions about it.

Thus, Allawi will have 30 days from now to form his government and present it to the House of Representatives to gain confidence.

Allawi’s speech In a speech broadcast on a video posted on his Facebook page, he stressed his respect for the demonstrations that the country has been witnessing for four months, and that he will work to fulfill its demands and protect the demonstrators.

He pledged to compensate the families of those killed in the protests, treat the wounded, determine and hold accountable the dead, set the date for the elections, the party law and fight corruption.

“Now I am an employee with you, and I have a great trust (…) If I do not fulfill your demands, I do not deserve this assignment,” Allawi, 65, said to the people and protesters.
