After Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi’s decision not to allow flights over Iraqi airspace without his personal approval, which applies to US and international coalition aircraft in Iraq, the latter responded and complied formally.
In a statement on its official website in the early hours of the day, the US-led International Coalition confirmed its commitment to Abdul Mahdi’s decision, noting that commanders at the Joint Operations Headquarters for Operation Torque Solidarity met with Iraqi Defense Ministry officials to discuss the recent directives of the Iraqi prime minister on the use of airspace. .
He said that as a guest within Iraq’s sovereign borders, he abides by all laws and directives of the Iraqi government, declaring that all members of the coalition, including the United States of America, abide by these instructions.
Abdul-Mahdi’s decision comes after repeated air targets of camps belonging to armed factions supported by Iran in Iraq, the latest bombing of the camp Falcon south of Baghdad.
