After revealed the former leader of the Sadrist movement, Bahaa al-Araji, the intention to overthrow the government of Adel Abdul-Mahdi, raised concern in the political and popular circles in Iraq.

There are fears of chaos in the implementation of the project, especially as it aims to change the government through popular protests during the summer.

In parallel with the absence of the leader of the Sadrist movement Moqtada al-Sadr, Bahaa al-Araji, the former leader of the current, revealed the features of a project planned by Sadr four months ago, the change of current Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, because of what he said he failed to manage the state, .

Araji said in a press statement that “this revolutionary project is for him a while ago, and the absence of Sadr comes in the context of monitoring the government of Abdul-Mahdi, and planning for the next project.”

But this project has raised political concerns and observers of the Iraqi situation of chaos in the country, if Sadr wants to change Abdul Mahdi, for two reasons. First, there is no convincing reason to change the prime minister, especially since he has not had enough time to prove his ability to run the state or not. , And the second mechanism to change Abdul Mahdi, the demonstrations and protests, according to the details of the project announced by Araji.

The political analyst Basil al-Kazimi said that “talking about the change of the prime minister has two points: one negative, the other positive. The promises that Abdul-Mahdi gave to the Iraqi people and the political parties could not meet them. It concerns the formation of the government. For example, he promised to form his government of independent technocrats, But then it became the parties that control the formation of the cab, and the imposition of ministers; what is a great mess on the Mahdi by the forces calling for reform, such as Sadr, and this is a positive if it was changed quietly.

“Changing Abdul-Mahdi so quickly and adopting popular protest mechanisms will cause chaos in the country and create more problems than Abdul Mahdi himself, especially with political instability in Iraq that will ensure that the prime minister will be unhindered,” he said in a press statement.

He explained that “the absence of a large bloc within the parliament will cause a catastrophic crisis in the event of claims for change, as the political blocs did not form that bloc after the elections, which is approved by the Constitution, but adopted consensus and nominated Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi.

Maha Fadel, MP, said that the “details of this project and its intentions towards Iraq, and who are the political parties seeking to pass it, must be known.”

She added in a press statement that “the news of the removal of the Prime Minister has been circulated through the media only, and was not introduced within the coalition victory in recent meetings, noting that Abadi made many successes during his premiership, and in conditions were very difficult.

Although the details of the project are not yet fully clear, moves initiated by Jaafar al-Sadr, a cousin of Muqtada al-Sadr and close to him, began a few days ago. He met with a number of political leaders in the country, suggesting that the Sadr project is in its final stages. There was no official position from the Iraqi government on the announcement of the project.
