US official: optimistic about forming Iraqi government soon

A US official expressed his hope for the formation of a national Iraqi government and continued cooperation with “Iraqi partners” while stressing the people’s right to “peaceful gatherings” to demand better services.
The official, who declined to be named, said that “the United States government has great hope of continuing negotiations between the political blocs and agree on the formation of the new government soon,” according to the newspaper New World.
“Washington also supports the rights of the Iraqi people to peaceful assembly, to demand the provision of the required services, in addition to the assistance of civil society organizations to support the process of economic reforms,” the official said, adding that “continuing to work with Iraqi partners, and provide them with the necessary support to overcome obstacles. ”
A US official has denied earlier that any financial corruption cases could be carried out in cooperation with Baghdad because the money does not go directly to government agencies, as well as precise mechanisms to monitor the disbursement of US grants.
