Official - Kuwaiti fuel aims to help Iraq operate power plantsAl-Sabbagh: The government of the State of Kuwait sends these quantities of fuel to support the Iraqi brothers

Kuwait’s consul general in the city of Basra, Yussef al-Sabbagh, said that the Kuwaiti fuel shipments that arrived in Iraq were aimed at alleviating the suffering of the brotherly people by helping to operate the stopped power stations.

Yusef al-Sabbagh said Tuesday that the tanker carrying 18,000 tons of gas oil, Kazawil, arrived yesterday in Basra from the port of Ahmadi, according to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

Al-Sabbagh added that on Wednesday, the city of Basra received another shipment of 30 thousand cubic meters of fuel oil gas “Kazawil”.

The consul stressed that the Kuwaiti government’s dispatch of these quantities of fuel is intended to support Iraqi brothers and alleviate their suffering by providing enough fuel to operate the stopped power stations.

It is worth mentioning that the Director of Public Relations and Information at the Iraqi Ports Authority, Anmar Al-Safi, announced yesterday evening the arrival of the giant tanker to the waiting station in the ports of Basra coming from the port of Ahmadi in Kuwait.

The electricity crisis, as well as the familiarity of some other services, have sparked widespread public demonstrations in the southern Iraqi cities to demand better services and job opportunities for the unemployed.
