URGENT Security authorities respond to US embassy warning: Our plan is ideal to protect polling stations

The High Electoral Security Committee and the Ministry of Interior responded to the US Embassy’s warning in Baghdad of possible attacks targeting polling stations in Iraq on Saturday, coinciding with the holding of parliamentary elections.
“We have assured citizens that all electoral centers are safe and carry out proactive operations to provide a secure environment for elections,” she said in a brief statement.
For his part, spokesman for the Interior Ministry, Major General Saad Maan, on Friday, the preparation of a security plan to protect the voters and polling stations.
“To our sisters and brothers everywhere in Iraq, your heroic security forces have equipped a secure security plan for the elections to protect you and protect electoral centers,” he said in a brief statement.
“You will see this perfect security environment by not being influenced by any malicious media to discourage you from going to your national democracy,” Maan said.
The US embassy in Iraq said in a statement that it had “temporarily reduced the movement of its personnel to these areas.”
