8-7-2014 Newshound Guru Tlar Articles are suggesting that the SOL is now working with the NA and other articles suggesting the SOL is not working with the NA and standing by their man Maliki. Very confusing as their leadership appears to also now be in disarray. Lots of unofficial statements today. Choose one. If you don’t like that one…wait 5 minutes maybe the next one will be better. I think the SOL is in tatters and finally the opposition to Maliki is gaining in strength.

8-7-2014 Newshound Guru tman23 I was told early this morning a SPECIAL SESSION is scheduled for Saturday. That scheduled session is verified and confirmed. They will officially have the candidate PM name.

8-7-2014 Newshound Guru Stryker Parliament Session started with 168 deputies in attendance, they voted on resignations of two members of the House of Representatives. They adjourned until 1:00 pm today and when they return President Massoum will announce the largest bloc. The nomination for Prime Minister has been postponed until Monday tho! Article Quote: “The Union said the national forces, said Thursday that Parliament Speaker Salim Al-jubouri would resign from the post if the Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to form the next Government.” Speaker al-Jubouri announced that if Maliki gained a third mandate he would resign as Speaker of the House.

8-7-2014 RUMOR Guru TerryK they have to name PM, they are doing that at 8pm Iraq time [Wednesday]. The world will support anyone but Maliki. The UN and USA are ready to enforce the new PM. We should see our money this week. SO WE ARE ON PINS AND NEEDLES.

8-6-2014 Newshound Guru Adam Montana …right now it looks like the 8th is still a solid day to see some news. There are signs that Maliki is doing exactly what I thought he might have to do, which is give in to the Sunnis a bit. One example is lending support to the Peshmerga (Kurdish soldiers) in resisting ISIS. Speaking of ISIS, they are still a problem and in my opinion we have two things that need to be taken care of before we will see Iraq move to the HCL (necessary to support an RV)” 1. They need to seat an official PM, be it Maliki or Ronald McDonald. It doesn’t matter who, just put someone there officially and move on.

8-6-2014 Newshound Guru Adam Montana 2. Handle the situation with ISIS. The IS is an evil entity, and must be vanquished or at least mostly expelled before any further progress can be made in Iraq. It does appear that Iran is stepping in to help Iraq, but they are doing so in order to influence the political process. Either way, controlling the situation is of dire importance, and I hope to see that happening in short order. The new President of Iraq had made some pretty strong comments about “stepping down” if he was forced to pick a PM (which he should do according to the Constitution), but that talk seems to have subsided and it will be interesting to see how this week progresses politically. I will wait until Thursday to make further comments.

8-6-2014 Newshound Guru BondLady …I’d like to think they did this survey to see what the world could offer them per knowledge and I also think Iraq is a lil scared to go big as far as monetary wise and they want to be assured they doing the right thing to possibly do a rate change or increase Iraq’s worth…it all plays a part imo investments and economical developments and about combating corruption and they have come a long way in it all…just give us all new GOI ministers and dump all the ones who did nothing or brought terrorist in to cause problems in the gov or the one’s that tribal fought to keep Iraq shackled to being poor… they have a real shot now for freedom and democracy without all the hate

8-6-2014 Newshound Guru Aggiedad77 …the news this morning it is almost all exclusively about “M”…..is he in….is he out…..will he be prosecuted…..or allowed to seek asylum in some far away place like London….or elsewhere…A disturbing point though…..Maliki making a threat that “the gates of hell would open” if anyone tries to form what he says or calls an unconstitutional government.

8-6-2014 Newshound Guru Aggiedad77 …Wow…then Maliki turns around and says sure I will step down…but it will cost you…and he rolls out 28….yep 28 “conditions” that he wants met before he steps down….probably the foremost of them is freedom from prosecution…We sit patiently and watch as things unfold, and play out for the Iraqis and the world around them. Yes I encourage each of you to…keep an eye on Maliki and how things continue to unfold….or perhaps unravel…..depending on one’s point of view.

8-6-2014 RUMOR Guru Mnt Goat Another parliament meeting is called for 8/7 Thursday, the day before the formal constitutional deadline for naming the PM expires on Friday 8/6. Can they extend it? yes they can…I am hearing there is a one week extension under discussion but nothing final. If all goes well and the announcements are made and the seating of the new Prime minister happens tomorrow 8/7 we will be in an excellent window to see the RV early next week. They may use this weekend to send all the updated rates and files downstream and do the final preparations. We could be at the banks next week. Note – I did not say we would have the RV. No one knows for sure the date. I am saying our best window of opportunity.

8-6-2014 RUMOR Guru Mnt Goat On the other hand, if things continue to linger on past this week we will be in a totally different situation since the militants are advancing and becoming increasingly more dire…There is really only one person to blame for all this mess and for the delay in seating this new government. It is the OUTGOING prime minister Nori Al-Maliki. The next prime minister replacing him will get all the glory and fan fair of finally bringing their currency online again with a full valued international rate. This I am certain.

8-6-2014 Newshound Guru wmawhite There will be only 1 nomination and that will go to the floor of Parliament and will have come from the largest bloc and that 1 will be voted on. He then has 30 days to form his government. The Jaafari nomination was a surprise but considering he is the head of the NA and without him it would have been a slam dunk for Maliki. I am impressed that they are plowing ahead and they want to get this done.

8-6-2014 Newshound/Intel Guru BGG They are fairly close to naming a PM in Iraq. Sometime in the next couple of days we will see that. Maliki in as the PM for a 3rd term is a rumor and far from true for many reasons, one is it is not constitutional. Another rumor is that Jaafari is nominated as the NA candidate for PM…that one may be true. The 8th is Friday & if they are going to stick to any kind of constitutional framework on their deadline they have to have their PM named this week & I think they will probably get it done. They are on the doorstep of having a new PM and they should have a vote before Sunday.
