On Tuesday, an informed political source revealed details of the meeting of the leaders of the Coordination Framework, which was attended by Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi and held on Monday evening.
The source explained to Shafaq News Agency that “Al-Zaydi warned some of the framework forces, especially those with armed wings, against failing to fulfill their obligations, and stressed the importance of adhering to the agreed-upon deadlines for handing over weapons.”
He added that “Al-Zaydi stressed the need to resolve the disputes regarding the agreement on nominating candidates for the vacant ministerial portfolios and to finish voting on them as quickly as possible in order to start a new phase in building the state, especially the ministries of the Sunni component, specifically regarding the dispute over the Ministry of Culture and its affiliation with one of the components of the (National Political Council), and this axis will be discussed in the State Administration meeting today.”
The source indicated that “the Minister of Finance briefed the leaders of the Shiite House on the details of the draft budget for 2027 and the mechanism for addressing some spending categories and transferring funds between them in a way that covers the priorities of the government program and meets the requirements of the citizen.”
The source indicated that “a list of proposed amendments to some key paragraphs in the budget has been prepared, and it is expected to receive parliamentary support in order to save time and effort.”
He explained that “the draft budget included allocations for job positions for graduates, not exceeding 100,000 positions, but some demanded during the meeting to double the allocations, which was the subject of debate among the assembled leaders, as some opposed the increase and others demanded raising the ceiling to more than 400,000 job positions to include the largest number of graduates.”
It is noted that the Coordination Framework held its periodic meeting on Monday evening, but it did not address the approval of the annual financial budget or the completion of the formation of the ministerial cabinet, despite the fact that more than six months have passed since the current government was tasked with the leadership of Ali al-Zidi, according to a statement from the Framework.
The framework stated in its statement that it held its 298th meeting in the office of the head of the National Foundation Alliance, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, in the presence of the Prime Minister, Ali Al-Zidi, to discuss a number of important national issues and files that directly affect the living and service conditions of citizens.
The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Faleh Sari, during which the country’s financial and economic affairs and the government’s service plan were reviewed and discussed.
It should be noted that the approval of the federal budget has become of paramount importance to the government and the House of Representatives, as it relates to the running of ministries and government institutions.
