The Iraqi Ministry of Communications announced on Friday evening that it will sign official contracts in the Qatari capital, Doha, with three important countries to pass their internet capacities through Iraq to Europe as a “transit”.
The signing will take place on November 9, on the sidelines of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) meetings and elections, which will enhance Iraq’s position as a regional hub and international data transmission point, according to a statement from the Ministry of Communications received by Shafaq News Agency.
The ministry considered that with this step, Iraq would lead the world in the number of transit capacities passing through its territory during the last four months.
