An informed source confirmed on Wednesday that the trial of MP Muthanna al-Samarrai, head of the Azm Alliance, will take place tomorrow in Baghdad, amid expectations of a verdict.
The source explained to Al-Maalouma that “the trial of MP Muthanna al-Samarrai, head of the Azm Alliance, will be held in the court specializing in corruption cases in Baghdad.”
He indicated that “all indications point to a decision being reached in the session,” noting that “it comes after being postponed last week, and expectations suggest that tomorrow there will be an important decision given the availability of evidence and proof, in addition to reports that several witnesses to the case will be present.”
The source explained that “the ball is now in the judiciary’s court to resolve this case, especially since al-Samarrai is considered one of the most prominent figures arrested in operations that took place inside the Green Zone four months ago, which were dubbed Operation Dawn.” He pointed out that
“it is not possible to be certain about the nature of the decision yet, but in any case, the judiciary will make the appropriate decision based on the available evidence and proof.”
