American billionaire Elon Musk, an ally of President Donald Trump, threatened on Thursday to go after the Democrats and expose those behind their actions if they regain control of Congress following the midterm elections scheduled for November 3.
Musk wrote on his X platform, commenting on a Politico report about Democrats’ plans to investigate his activities, saying: “He who lives by the sword, dies by the sword.”
He added: “Those who choose to fight with me should realize that I will expose who is actually pulling the strings, and I will pursue them, not just the puppets they use.”
Musk is a major donor to the Republican Party, to which Trump belongs, and also serves as an advisor to the president. His business empire, most notably SpaceX, benefits from government contracts, and he also controls Tesla, the electric car manufacturer.
Republicans currently control both the Senate and the House of Representatives, but projections indicate that Democrats could regain control of the House in the November 3rd elections.
This would give Democrats the chairmanship of investigative committees with broad powers, including the ability to subpoena people to testify, which could open the door to an investigation into Musk’s activities and his relationship with the US government.
