The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Thursday that its minister, Faisal bin Farhan, received a call from Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, in which he affirmed Iraq’s firm position of not allowing its territory to be used as a launching pad for any attacks that threaten the security of Saudi Arabia and the countries of the region.
The ministry added in a statement on the “X” platform that “the call witnessed a review of the bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, and ways to enhance cooperation between them in various fields, especially the security field, in order to contribute to dealing with the current regional challenges.”
According to the statement, Hussein expressed the Iraqi government’s condemnation of the attacks on Saudi Arabia, “and its rejection of all harm inflicted on civilians and civilian facilities, stressing Iraq’s firm position of not allowing its territory to be used as a launching pad for any attacks or actions that affect the security of the Kingdom and the countries of the region.”
For his part, the Saudi Foreign Minister affirmed the Kingdom’s support for the Iraqi government’s efforts to reduce tensions and its endeavors to continue joint work with neighboring countries, in order to enhance security and stability in the region.
