The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil for Gas Affairs, Izzat Saber Ismail, announced today, Thursday, that the completion rate of the accelerated Artawi gas field investment project (AG25) has reached 96%, stressing the importance of investing in associated gas and reducing its flaring to enhance fuel supplies for power generation stations.

The Undersecretary’s statements came on the sidelines of a field tour he conducted with the Director General of the South Gas Company, Ali Salman Majeed, and a number of project managers from the South Gas Company and Basra Oil Company, as well as representatives of the operating entity and the implementing companies.

Ismail said the project aims to invest 50 million standard cubic feet of raw gas to produce more than 40 million standard cubic feet of dry gas, paving the way for it to enter the production phase soon.

He added that the completion rate of the Gas Processing Project (GMP) reached 36 percent, and its first phase aims to invest 300 million standard cubic feet of raw gas from the Majnoon, West Qurna 2 and Artawi fields, followed by a second phase with a similar additional capacity, within the Ministry’s plans to invest in associated gas and reduce flaring rates.

The Undersecretary stressed the commitment to contractual timelines for project completion, and the need to utilize the capabilities of state-owned oil companies to overcome obstacles and accelerate the pace of work.
