US Treasury Secretary Scott Bisent said Wednesday evening that the process of economically isolating Iran is proving successful.
Bisent added in statements followed by Shafaq News Agency that “Iran is unable to obtain dollars and funding for its proxies is decreasing.”
The Treasury Secretary confirmed: “There are no Iranian oil shipments at sea, perhaps for the first time since Iran began producing oil.”
On October 22, Bessent said that oil tankers that had been filling up Iran’s main oil loading terminal on Kharg Island had completely disappeared and left no trace.
He pointed out that the “economic pariah operation” launched by the United States on August 24th is working to cut off the Iranian regime’s oil lifeline, depriving it of the resources it uses to finance terrorism, nuclear weapons programs, and the lavish lifestyle of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard elite.
The United States is imposing a blockade on Iranian ports to prevent its oil from reaching international markets.
The International Monetary Fund, in its latest World Economic Outlook report issued on October 13, predicted that the Iranian economy would contract by 7.6% this year, along with several Gulf countries experiencing economic contraction as a result of the war and disruptions in energy and trade markets.
