The popular movement for the Belt and Road called, on Thursday, on the forces of the coordination framework to refrain from flattering the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Muhammad al-Halbousi, and work to remove him from office.
The head of the organizing body, Hussein Ali Al-Karawi, said in an interview with Al-Maalouma agency, “We call for the dismissal of Al-Halbousi due to his weak management of Parliament and distortion of the legislative process, as well as suspicions of corruption and response to external pressure.”
Al-Karawi added, “The coordination framework and those with it are required to put pressure on Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi to submit his resignation or dismiss him,” noting that “the House of Representatives has deviated from its main role, as it is unable to present an achievement for the Iraqi people, which negatively affected the legislation of important laws.”
He explained that “there are many observations on the performance of the parliament presidency, including the suspension of the belt agreement in favor of regional and foreign countries, as well as the failure to take measures to hold accountable those who contracted with the Korean company Daewoo, which is implementing the project.”
The popular movement for the Belt and Road had demanded, earlier, that the Director General of Ports be relieved of his post and held accountable for his failure in the Faw port file.
