The Coordination Framework, which includes the ruling Shiite political forces in Iraq, is scheduled to hold its periodic meeting tomorrow, Monday, to discuss a number of important issues with Prime Minister Ali al-Zubaidi.
A source within the framework told Shafaq News Agency that “the leaders of the Coordination Framework will hold their periodic meeting tomorrow, Monday, in the presence of Al-Zaydi, to discuss important issues and files related to internal and regional affairs, including the Prime Minister presenting a briefing on the results of his recent visit to Jordan and Syria, in addition to presenting the files that will be included in his agenda for his upcoming visit to Kuwait and Bahrain.”
An informed source revealed on Saturday that Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi is expected to visit Bahrain and Kuwait this week to discuss important issues, including outstanding matters between Iraq and Kuwait, and the situation of the Shiite community in Bahrain.
This visit comes as a continuation of the regional tour that Al-Zaidi began in mid-October with an official visit to Saudi Arabia, before making a similar visit to Jordan on the 26th of the same month, followed by a visit to Syria on the 28th of the same month.
Regarding internal matters, the source revealed that “those meeting will also discuss the parliamentary committees and the mechanism for completing them, in addition to reviewing the results of the negotiations of the four-party framework committee concerned with negotiating with the factions to end the issue of restricting weapons. According to the information, there is significant progress in the results of the negotiations being conducted by the committee, and the file will be concluded on the date set by the government.”
The Iraqi parliament failed in late October to hold a session to vote on the chairmanship and members of parliamentary committees due to political disagreements between parliamentary blocs that hindered their approval individually, and the demand to pass them as a “single package”.
It is worth noting that the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ali al-Zaidi, pledged last September to disarm the armed factions in Iraq by June 2027, stressing that the factions have 90 days, after which they will be outlawed.
