Shafaq News / The controversy is still going on within the coordination framework regarding the fate of forming the new government and the current parliament after the resignation of the Sadrist movement’s representatives and the appointment of their replacements, and a prominent leader in the coordination framework expressed, today, Saturday, the desire of the framework forces to dissolve Parliament and not to form a new government after an investigation. The leader, who asked not to be named, told Shafak News Agency, “The coordinating framework forces are currently working to amend the Iraqi Parliament elections law, in addition to changing the current Electoral Commission,” noting that “the amendment of the law aims to return it to its old status by making Each governorate is one electoral district and not a number of multiple districts.
The leader added that “the coordinating framework, after obtaining the majority of the Sadrist movement’s seats in Parliament, now owns a share (half plus one), in Parliament, and this is what enables it to pass any law it wants with its allies from the Sunni and Kurdish forces, in addition to the independent representatives.”
The leader in the coordination framework added that “after achieving these two goals, the framework may move towards dissolving parliament and heading towards early parliamentary elections, as he is well aware of the difficulty of forming any government in the absence of the Sadrist movement,” noting that “any government formed without the movement will not last for the (6 months”.
For his part, the State of Law coalition responded to the possibility of dissolving parliament and not forming a new government.
State of Law Representative Aref Al-Hamami told Shafaq News Agency, “There is no tendency for the state of law or the coordinating framework to dissolve the parliament and hold early elections,” noting that “the political blocs are now negotiating to come up with a national unity government with the participation of Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds.”
Al-Hamami added that “the next government will be formed after Eid and the political blockage will end, and the new government will be service governments, not crises.”
The National State Forces Alliance headed by Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Wisdom Movement, and former Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi (which is part of the coordination framework) announced, on Friday, a political initiative to manage the next stage, and while it indicated that the crisis is still ongoing, it confirmed that the next transitional stage ends with new elections with the formation of A moderate “governance equation” that is reassuring for the “participating and non-participating political forces” in the government.
On Friday, the Secretary-General of Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq, Qais al-Khazali, ruled out forming a new government after the Sadrist movement withdrew from the political process, calling for a political agreement to re-elections.
This comes in the wake of an extraordinary parliamentary session held by the Parliament, headed by Muhammad al-Halbousi, and attended by 202 deputies, which saw 64 new deputies take the constitutional oath, instead of the Sadrist bloc’s deputies who resigned last week in response to an invitation from the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr.
