Member of the Parliamentary Investment and Finance Committee, Muhammad Jabbar al-Shammari, confirmed on Monday that there is a real possibility of generating 30 trillion Iraqi dinars in non-oil revenues after including these estimates in the 2027 general budget.
Al-Shammari told Al-Maalouma, “The figure set by the government in the budget, estimated at 30 trillion dinars as non-oil revenues, is feasible as a result of the plans developed during the past months to maximize these revenues.”
He added that “the most important resources the government has relied on are border crossings, whose revenues reached 8 trillion dinars in recent months after the implementation of the ASYCUDA system (customs automation).” He explained that “projections for 2027 indicate a significant increase in non-oil revenues after activating the plans related to the border crossings and other sectors.”
Al-Shammari stated that “the 30 trillion dinar figure set by the government is almost a certainty, and it is expected to be exceeded if the government tightens its control over all border crossings and takes the measures stipulated in the plan.”
He pointed out that “these plans come within the framework of Iraq’s efforts to reduce its dependence on oil as a primary source of revenue, a measure for which well-studied plans and implementation mechanisms have been developed.”
In a related context, the General Authority for Monitoring the Allocation of Federal Revenues announced that non-oil revenues reached $5.8 billion (approximately 8.7 trillion dinars) by the end of July 2026.
The Customs Authority announced today, Monday, that October revenues increased by 103% compared to last year, exceeding 526 billion dinars.
