On Tuesday, a member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Representative Moeen Al-Kadhimi, suggested that amendments to the budget schedules for the current year be sent by the government during the next legislative term, indicating that work on financing projects will be limited to the projects specified according to the tripartite budget schedules approved by Parliament last year.
Al-Kadhimi told Al-Maalouma that, “Until now, the Parliamentary Finance Committee has not been notified of the government’s completion of amending the budget schedules for the current year, noting that the legislative term is nearing its end,” suggesting that “the budget will reach the Finance Committee during the next legislative term.”
He added, “The Ministry of Finance has not yet paid the governorates’ dues, especially for existing projects for which funds were previously allocated,” calling on “the Ministry to expedite the release of the governorates’ dues from the funds allocated to each governorate.”
It is noteworthy that the legislative term of the House of Representatives will end at the beginning of next September, and it was hoped that the government would send amendments to the 2024 budget schedules before the end of the term of the current legislative term to Parliament for the purpose of voting on them.
