Al-Dulaimi said in a press statement, “The Arzema area, south of Al-Rutba district, 15 km from the district center in western Anbar, includes glass sands that are used in multi-purpose industries in developed countries and it is one of the most important minerals after oil. He added, “The glass sand reserve in that region is estimated at more than one billion tons,” explaining that “making silicon from glass sand is very difficult and physically unsuccessful, and the best is extracted from silica rocks.” He explained, “The purity of the glass sands available in the western regions reaches 99%,” calling on the central government to “benefit from the minerals of the western regions and attract investment companies to invest in it.”
