Independent MP Hadi Al-Salami revealed on Saturday that a judicial arrest warrant has been circulated to all security agencies and checkpoints inside the country against the leader of the “Al-Nusra Front”, Abu Muhammad al-Julani, stressing the need to implement it immediately upon his entry into Iraqi territory.
Al-Salami said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, “Al-Julani is involved in committing terrorist crimes against the Iraqi people, and he played a major role in the killings and displacement that targeted minorities inside the country,” stressing that he is “a person convicted of terrorism and wanted by Iraqi justice.”
He added that “the arrest warrant was issued by the Supreme Judicial Council and circulated to the National Intelligence Service, the National Security Service, the Ministry of Interior, the Intelligence Service, local and federal police departments, in addition to Army Intelligence and the Counter-Terrorism Service.”
Al-Salami indicated that “the warrant was issued in accordance with the provisions of Article 4 of the Anti-Terrorism Law, and includes the immediate arrest of al-Julani if he arrives in Iraqi territory.”
