Informed sources confirmed on Tuesday that US forces have transferred nearly 300 pieces of heavy equipment to six bases in northern and eastern Syria over the past three months.
Sources told Al-Maalouma that “US forces have transferred approximately 300 pieces of heavy equipment, including tanks and armored vehicles, from various bases such as Al-Harir and Ain Al-Assad to their bases spread across northern and eastern Syria to bolster their military presence in those areas.”
She noted that “US forces are attempting to ensure a long-term presence at these bases, which are a miniature version of Iraq’s Ain al-Asad base, ensuring continued logistical support, in addition to establishing heavy artillery positions and early warning systems. This will enhance their ability to hold these areas, especially since they are located near major oil and gas wells.”
She added, “These steps represent an attempt to besiege and control Syria’s natural resources, thereby gaining leverage over Damascus to advance its agenda in the country.”
The sources indicated that “the US forces’ strengthening of their presence at these bases indicates that they are taking into consideration that the coming period will not be peaceful and may witness the emergence of resistance to their presence, which could lead to their being directly targeted. Therefore, they have intensively reinforced these bases.”
It is noteworthy that US forces are deployed at several bases in Syria, in areas close to oil and gas fields.
