Iraqi Electricity announces completion of 75 percent of the Gulf power grid connection projectShafaq News/ The Iraqi Ministry of Electricity announced on Friday that 75% of the stages of the Gulf interconnection project to supply the country with energy have been completed.

The ministry stated in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency that a delegation from it, headed by the ministry’s advisor, Abdul Hamza Abboud, met in Basra Governorate with the Deputy CEO of the Gulf Interconnection Authority, Muhammad Al-Sheikh, and representatives of the Ministries of Electricity and Energy of the Gulf countries.

She stressed that “the draft energy exchange contract with the Gulf Cooperation Council countries has reached advanced stages of completion exceeding 75%.”

She added, “The meeting completed what was discussed in the first meeting held in Dammam, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, during which the draft energy exchange contract to be concluded between the Republic of Iraq and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries was discussed.”

The ministry confirmed that “the contract includes a project to establish two 400 KV high-voltage lines linking the Kuwaiti Al-Wafra station to the 400 KV Al-Faw secondary station , in addition to adding two inductors to the Al-Faw station.”
