The Integrity Commission announced on Thursday that a six-year prison sentence has been issued against Member of Parliament Muthanna al-Samarrai. In a statement, the Commission said, “A six-year prison sentence has been issued against MP Muthanna al-Samarrai,” explaining that “the sentence was issued for his profiting from contracts with the North and South Refineries Company.” The statement added that “al-Samarrai has also been ordered to return 30 billion dinars that he obtained through his involvement in brokering contracts with the North and South Refineries Company.”
