The Human Rights Commission said that “information indicates that the gas used today in tear gas in Tahrir Square has a different smell and suffocation is also severe.”
“The prime minister is instructing the riot forces not to use tear gas except in accordance with known international regulations that respect human rights and do not cause great harm to the citizen,” Ali al-Bayati, a member of the commission, said in a statement.
He pointed out that “there are a lot of cases of direct use and throwing the device on the demonstrators directly.”
