8-29-2014 Intel Guru TD Comments to share from my Kurdish friend today: While there is considerable progress being made in formation of a new government it is NOT yet complete. It should by all indications be named (cabinet members) few days before the deadline. Then Parliament must vote and approve everyone and at this time getting the (moderate) Sunnis on board with all remains incomplete. Masum is reaching out daily to Sunni leaders to get on board. The alternative of an ISIS state for moderate Sunnis is frightening so chances look good but the Sunnis really want a BIG PART OF THE ACTION. Read more…

8-27-2014 Newshound Guru BGG & Chattels 1203 was the market price reported yesterday, it is 1201 today…less is more and closer to the 2% variance supposedly desired by the IMF . Wow!! More good news. That is big. First time that has happened. The published “market rate” is what is dropping – not the 1166 (auction rate)… the fact that the market rate and auction rate are getting closer together is pretty good news…this is one of the precursors put forth by the IMF before Iraq can gain entrance to article 8 – and international acceptance. first two days it is realistic…which doesn’t absolutely mean it will happen tomorrow – just that it CAN. [So they are now in compliance or close to it?] as I understand it – today they are. I would suspect the IMF wants to see some stability at such a marker – JMHO. Read more…

8-22-2014 Newshound Guru Adam Montana …Abadi has some time remaining to complete his new Iraqi government. The Kurdish members of Parliament had walked out and refused to participate in any government actions last month under Maliki, but…Kurdish leaders are returning to Baghdad to negotiate and take part in forming the new GOI. While some have insisted the government would be formed quickly (like last week!), I don’t see that happening – I believe Abadi and the rest of the parties involved will take the full time allowed, so we will not see a fully formed and seated GOI for about 3 more weeks. Kurdistan continues to show strength and resolve – with the help of outside forces, they have at least partially reclaimed the Mosul Dam from the terrorists and IS looks to be getting desperate. Maybe that’s why Kuwait had a high rate.] …many of the OLD TIMERS that did the KW math in the 90’s are BACK with o and the CBI. In the 90’s they brought the KW dinar back too high in value. Weeks later they had to bring it back down to free float slowly. It was very successful after that wiser move. IMO, 3+ will solve many things but at an unsafe speed. These are neophytes in the GOI and CBI. I love the advancements but caution to chew slowly. IMO at 1 to 1…3+ would follow right behind it within a physical year of time or much less. Read more…

He pretty much dug himself in and stated he would not give up a third term. Article: “Failed assassination attempt on Prime Minister-designate Ahmed Haider Abadi, led by Nuri al-Maliki led to the injury of the latter injured” Looks to me that we have a clear reason for Maliki’s change of heart…he got caught!…it seems apparent that he tried to take out Abadi today which then would have kept him in power (at least for the time being). “A change of heart” does not cut the mustard when it comes to Maliki. 8-9-2014 Intel Guru TD I just received this update from my Kurdish friend who indicates that thanks to US air strikes and the fierce fighting capability of the Kurdish forces that ISIS is NOT making any progress against their region. Most telling is the ENORMOUS pressure the Obama administration is making against M [Maliki] and other main political leaders in the country to “Move ahead swiftly with government formation and the placement of an inclusive PM “. Obama has laid it out very clearly to everyone that their only viable solution here is political and that the US military involvement is coupled with REAL AND IMMEDIATE Political solutions.

8-9-2014 Intel Guru TD All this translates to is that M is history and a new PM will be named as early as Sunday. Acceleration and formation of the government is imminent now. While humanitarian suffering is enormous this development is a blessing in disguise for all of the Iraqi people as their leaders MUST now act.
