6-15-2012 BWM if I had a quarter for every hour I was supposed to be at the bank I wouldn’t need an rv.

6-15-2012 Enorrste it is impossible to talk about a “raise” in the “value” of the dinar and talk about a LOP in the same sentence. A LOP is revenue neutral, whereas a revaluation involves a “raise” in the “value” of the currency. The removal of the large notes (remove the three zeros) does NOT affect the value of the currency. The RV (revaluation) which makes the small denoms have value (“about $1” per CBI statements) DOES INDEED raise the value of the currency. However, after the RV, those who have some of the large notes will benefit, because THOSE NOTES will also RAISE THEIR VALUE, only at the NEW value of $1 per dinar. The confusion for those who view this event as a LOP is that they have consistently misunderstood the meaning of “remove the three zeros”. They think that the zeros are just LOPPED off, when in fact the CBI is quite clear that the “three zeros notes” will remain legal tender at least until mid 2014, AND that they will retain their value as legal tender.

6-15-2012 Adam Montana tarriffs are extra taxes imposed on goods… they don’t signify an RV. One could make the argument that it would be silly to add extra tax on goods that are out of the average Iraqi’s reach in the first place, unless there was a plan to increase the wealth of the average Iraqi in the near future… but the tarrifs themselves have nothing to do with the value of the currency.

THIS TELLS THAT THE CENTRAL BANK IS FIRST DELETING THE ZERO’S FROM THE NOMINAL VALUE, THEN THE GOVT AND THE PARLIAMENT HAVE DECIDED ON THE THEME FOR THE NEW CURRENCY THAT WILL BE ISSUED AFTER THE NEW EXCHANGE RATEIN EARLY 2013. I am not giving up hope, but this seems pretty compelling that Iraq may not be honoring the dinar at face value post redenomination. 6-12-2012 Scooter I think that shabs has three [rates] they’ve somewhat indicated these in the country reports two years ago from the imf there’s a low ceiling, mid ceiling, and high ceiling…the low would be under the .86 range the mid tier between 1.00 – 2.05 and the high upper two’s…but nevertheless — even the low the numbers wouldn’t work with the state of their economy right now, it will get there it’s just going take a bit more time…the reality is they can make their rate anything they want but they would have a heck of a time getting it accepted throughout the world. I think the longer he waits won’t have too much effect which option he chooses, IMO.

6-12-2012 Ray I…truly believe there will be an RV and it will be very soon. Shabibi has personally said this several times in public. A man of his character would not make these claims if they weren’t true. I know a lot about what is going on over there and all the preparations being made to RV the currency. 6-11-2012 SWFloridaGuy I don’t expect a RV overnight but I do believe that after the National Meeting, if we see announcements of permanent Ministers, Erbil power sharing and the Strategic Council, the CBI will move ahead with their economic reforms and we could see a higher exchange rate on the IQD.

If you put that into real numbers, that would be 850,000 for every million dinar you have. That is not such a bad fee for the torment and misery so many are going through. 6-8-2012  Doc  Money supply needs to be reduced to support a significant RV.  We will not argue the absolute value of the current money supply since it does not matter.  Lets just say it is 10s of trillions and has to be reduced to support a RV.  Without a reduction even a RV of $1 is economic suicide.  The value of the dinar would be greater than all the currencies currently in the world. This is also why when anyone who proposes ridiculous rates like $3+ obviously have no clue of basic economic principles.

6-6-2012 Mike Letters of Credit a Great Tool for Shabibi to use…For Emerging Countries it is a Wonderful Tool & Great Vehicle to use to Stabilize your currency and to keep large amounts of currencies from not running out – actually using your banks and getting them healthy. That has been the one thing CBI has done that has drawn praise from everybody – I think it was the ace in the hand for Shabibi to really stabilize his economy and move it one step closer to getting the banks activated.

6-3-2012 Kaperoni In recent days we have seen numerous articles from the CBI about how “all preparations are done” and that they want the GOI and Council of Ministers to come on board and support the CBIs plan. We are starting the see the tremendous burden on Dr. Shabibi to take the dinar to an “international” level. That without his monetary reform, there is no WTO, no free market economy and limited economic improvement.

6-3-2012 BGG Maliki seems to be saying he’ll do whatever he needs to – to make everyone happy. I don’t believe he will – he’s famous for gigantic stall tactics. However, he’s at least saying the right words. I don’t really see the opposition parties “letting up”. They do appear to be giving him all the chances in the world – however, they also appear to be moving ahead on proceedings at the same time. The other problematic issue is – I don’t think he has the time left to be able to “iron out” the 5 or 6 issues they have left. It is simply a technical problem…I don’t think he can if he really wants to.

5-30-2012 Adam Montana Everyone has to understand that even if the Dinar doesn’t immediately go from 1170:1 to 1:1, it can still raise slowly to that value. If it takes a few years to get there, you still make money…so “patience is a virtue” here…obviously we prefer a quick RV to a slow grow, but I’m happy either way. Maliki has had discussions and it sounds like the intent is to deal with Article 140 very soon, but it has not actually been completed…this would indeed be…GREAT…IF the border disputes were actually 100% complete.
