Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi left Baghdad on Wednesday morning, heading to Manama for an official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain, at the head of a high-level government delegation.
Iraqi government spokesman Haider al-Aboudi said in a video statement that the visit comes “within the framework of the policy of balance and openness adopted by the Iraqi government, and its keenness to strengthen Arab ties and cooperation with brothers and friends in light of Iraqi interests and the security and stability of the region.”
He added that Al-Zaidi is completing with this tour a series of foreign visits that he had previously made, which included Washington, Ankara, Tehran, Paris, Berlin, Doha, Riyadh, Amman, and Damascus, based on a clear vision for foreign relations that opens multiple paths for political and economic coordination.
Al-Aboudi added that during his visit to Manama, Al-Zaidi will discuss with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa ways to enhance political and economic cooperation between the two countries, and consult on regional developments, ways to reduce tension, and support political solutions.
This confirms what an informed source revealed to Shafaq News Agency last Saturday, regarding an anticipated tour by the Iraqi Prime Minister that includes Bahrain and Kuwait to discuss joint files and important regional issues.
It is worth noting that the Iraqi Prime Minister recently conducted a series of regional visits, including to Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Syria, where he met with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa to discuss political, security, and economic cooperation.
