On Saturday, a member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Ghiath al-Sorji, suggested that the political forces would repeat the scenario of 2018 to choose the president of the republic, while he saw that the candidate of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan is the closest to the position.
Al-Sorji said in an interview with the “Information” agency, “If we do not agree with the Kurdistan Democratic Party on one candidate for the president of the republic, the coordination framework, considering it the largest bloc, will move to a session to choose the president of the republic by voting in Parliament.”
He added, “The deputies of the coordination framework, other blocs, and even the Sovereignty Alliance will vote for the candidate of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan,” explaining that “the parliament dome will be the final decision between the two Kurdish parties to nominate the president of the republic.”
He pointed out that “the coordination framework, the National Union, the Alliance of Sovereignty and some independents are able to form a government as soon as possible, even if the Kurdistan Democratic Party does not agree with them.”
A member of the Al-Fateh Alliance, Ahmed Abdel-Hussein, had announced in a previous interview with “Information” that “there is a political consensus between the coordination framework and the Sovereignty Alliance for the purpose of proceeding with the process of forming the government,” noting that “the framework supports Bafel Talabani’s candidate for president of the republic.” End /
