Laith al-Dulaimi, a dissident deputy from the Taqaddam Party, announced his intention to go to court today, Tuesday, in order to sue Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi, indicating that 250 deputies will vote to dismiss al-Halbousi.
Al-Dulaimi said, in a televised interview followed by Al-Maalouma, “I will file an official complaint against Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi on charges of violating the constitution.”
He added, “The director of Al-Halbousi’s office is the one who runs the parliament and decides whether or not to hold the session, at a time when the parliament speaker is preoccupied with his private business and travels by plane, which has led to the weakening and absence of the parliament’s role.”
Al-Dulaimi indicated that “the dismissal of al-Halbousi has become obligatory, as about 250 deputies have the desire to get rid of al-Halbousi and prevent the freezing or cancellation of parliament.”
