The Iranian currency exchange rate continued to decline against foreign currencies, as the price of the dollar on the black market (parallel) today reached 272,000 riyals, setting a new record.
The Central Bank of Iran has pledged to restore control of the local currency markets, in the coming days.
“The US administration has been seeking to create inflation in the currency market for several weeks, through its efforts to re-impose international sanctions on Tehran in the Security Council, and to launch a propaganda campaign in opposition channels,” said Abdel Nasser Hemmati, governor of the Central Bank of Iran.
Hemmati added on his page in “Instagram” that there are those inside Iran who are taking advantage of the propaganda atmosphere to influence currency rates to achieve personal interests.
Hemmati stressed that currency rates in the current market will not continue, calling on citizens not to invest in foreign currencies
