Shafaq News/ The Russian presidency (the Kremlin) responded, on Thursday, to the recent statements of US President Donald Trump regarding the war in Ukraine and his threats to impose new sanctions on Russia.
“We don’t see anything new,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in response to a question from journalists about Donald Trump’s threats on Wednesday to impose new sanctions on Russia if it does not quickly resolve the conflict with Ukraine. “We are ready for dialogue, dialogue on an equal footing and with mutual respect.”
On Wednesday, Trump threatened his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, with imposing customs duties and sanctions on Russia if it did not work to reach an agreement to end the devastating war in Ukraine “immediately.”
“If we don’t make a deal, soon, I have no choice but to impose massive taxes, tariffs and sanctions on everything Russia sells to the United States and other countries,” Trump wrote in a tweet on his Truth Social platform.
The US president said he was not looking to hurt Russia. “I love the Russian people, and I’ve always had a very good relationship with President Putin.”
On Wednesday, Interfax news agency quoted Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov as saying that Moscow sees a small window of opportunity to conclude agreements with the new US administration headed by Trump.
