MP Amer Al-Fayez confirmed today, Saturday, that the issue of deciding the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives will be completed this week, while he indicated that MP Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani is the closest to the position of Speaker of Parliament.
Al-Fayez said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, “The issue of deciding the position of the Speaker of the House of Representatives will be completed this week, and the parliament’s agenda will include a paragraph on electing the president soon.”
He added that “the previous days witnessed understandings and dialogues between the Sunni blocs and the rest of the blocs to vote on a candidate for the presidency of parliament,” indicating that “the closest to the position of the Speaker of the House of Representatives currently is MP Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani.”
He stressed the need to “resolve this position without delay, as the consequences of the vacancy of this position have affected the democratic process and the stability of the political situation in the country.”
It is noteworthy that the differences between the Sunni forces have been prolonged, which has greatly complicated the work of the House of Representatives and left the position vacant for a longer period.
