Member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Moeen Al-Kadhimi, called on Thursday on the government of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani and the Integrity Commission to follow up on the properties and real estate of those accused of the theft of the century outside the country.

Al-Kadhimi stressed in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, the necessity of demanding that the countries to which they have fled freeze their funds and seize them until the competent court issues a decision on the tax money case.

He explained that “the court specializing in the trial of those accused of stealing tax money, known as the theft of the century, has several steps regarding the judicial decision by issuing an in absentia decision in the event that the accused do not appear before it.”

He called on the government to take a firm stance towards countries that harbour corrupt individuals if they refuse to hand them over to Iraq through Interpol.

The Iraqi judiciary issued two arrest warrants on Tuesday against Nour Zuhair, the first accused of stealing the century, and Haitham Al-Jubouri.
