Member of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, Waad Al-Qaddo, revealed today, Monday, that there are effective moves towards ending the file of the American presence in Iraq.

Al-Qaddo said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, “There are parliamentary moves that include rapid steps to end the American presence in Iraq once and for all.”

He added, “There is coordination between the government and the House of Representatives to end the international coalition file in general and the American one in particular.”

Al-Qaddo pointed out that “preserving Iraq’s security and stability requires preserving its sovereignty by ending the missions of any foreign force on its land.”

On February 10, 2024, the House of Representatives held a session to call for the expulsion of American forces, but the legal quorum for the session was not completed due to the absence of a number of representatives.

Popular, political and tribal demands are increasing for the necessity of removing foreign forces, led by the American forces, from Iraq as soon as possible, while warning at the same time of a dangerous escalation if their crimes against the security services continue and they violate the country’s sovereignty.
