Erdogan announces imminent end to military operations in Iraq and Syria

Shafaq News/ Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Saturday what he described as the “imminent end” of the Turkish forces’ operation against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) fighters in Iraq and Syria.
Erdogan said in a statement reported by Agence France-Presse: “We will very soon complete the closure of the operations area in northern Iraq (northern Kurdistan Region).”
The Turkish president added: “We will also complete the missing points of the security belt along our southern border with Syria.”
This comes at a time when Turkish aircraft are intensifying their airstrikes on sites belonging to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party in the Amadiya district, north of Dohuk Governorate.
